P.s: another fact i just found out, all (or at least most of) the spirits are based off the game developers' real loved ones who died. and the best part? on your main boat, at nighttime if you look in the sky, you can actually SEE the constellation every night, so she is remembered forever in the stars. then the shot panned upwards to the night sky, and drew a constellation of gwen in the sky. when it stopped, she had disappeared, leaving stella (me) and daffodil alone on the boat. ^^ THEN YOU GET ONE LAST HUG 😭 (oh yeah, in the game you can hug the characters a lot, it's so wholesome and helps improve their mood)Īfter we hugged, she started glowing and levitated in the air, and there was this HUGE burst of light that came from the gate. ^^ her last words to me before the everdoor took her 😭😭😭 she said it was all worth it because she had me as her best friend 😭 ^^ this was towards the end of a long monologue she had, whilst i quietly rowed, as she had final reflections on her life. Then there is THIS emotional wreck of a sequence: everyone gathered to say goodbye 🥲 and gwen gave me her lighter as a memento to remember her by. ^^ this was just before we got on the little rowboat, so i could take her to the everdoor. but holy crap, if i have to do this for every spirit, i don't know how i'll manage to do it. i was mentally preparing myself for that. it was inevitable, but i'd had so much fun doing tasks for the characters, i'd totally forgotten that i have to escort them to the afterlife (or whatever comes after the everdoor). i didn't expect it to shock me as much as it did. the other spirits seem to be patients that stella has cared for - in her life, i think stella was a palliative care nurse (meaning: end-of-life care) from what i've read? so she is basically mirroring this job in spiritfarer, bringing them comfort in their last days, which just warms my heart.Īnyway, gwen is awesome, and this is just one example of her being a queen:Īnyway, i did a lot of tasks for gwen, and suddenly today she broke the news to me that she was ready to go to the everdoor. gwen, for example, was her best friend in real life. the interesting thing is that all the spirits somehow seem to have known stella in real life. This reindeer, gwen, is the first spirit you get in the game. I've passed a certain milestone in the game, which i wasn't sure whether to say at first because of *spoilers* but from what i've seen online, it seems that this spirit goes first pretty much however you play the game. here are a couple of pieces to demonstrate what i mean: i started listening to it long before i played this game, and the soundtrack is just.

first of all, the GRAPHICS!!! it feels like i am playing a studio ghibli movie or something. There are so many reasons this game is amazing.

the game, in a way, is meant to teach you how to deal with grief, because you get attached to these characters but have to learn to let them go. it's like a b&b situation on a big bait that you upgrade, but with a touch of gate-out-of-purgatory like the good place vibes. then, when they feel they are ready, you will accompany them to the everdoor where their souls will depart. your job is to gather spirits throughout the game and complete requests for them to make them feel as comfortable as possible. The premise of the game is that you are stella, the new spiritfarer. i mean, i don't know what else i expected, but STILL. but the reviews weren't lying when they said it would get emotional. Time for me to rant about my latest nintendo switch obsession! i saw that spiritfarer, a game i've had my eye on for a while now, was 50% off in eshop so of course i had to buy it.
